Biography
Eric Sloan is a 2001 graduate of Gonzaga University School of Law. His practice began as a civil litigator at a firm in Boise, Idaho with a practice emphasis in commercial litigation, medical malpractice, class actions, employment law, and assisting local businesses maintain compliance and proper corporate governance. During this journey, Mr. Sloan began writing and editing corporate counsel practice guides for Thomson Reuters/West, including Corporate Counsel’s Guide to Advertising Law & Agreements, Corporate Counsel’s Guide to Spin-Offs, Company Policy Statements, and Corporate Counsel’s Guide to Privacy.
As a result of Mr. Sloan’s corporate counsel treatises, he was recruited to join an in-house legal department in 2009 based in Heathrow, Florida. Attorney Sloan’s primary mission was to handle and advise his corporate client on matters related to advertising law, which responsibility included vendor management and advertisement approval. His responsibilities soon expanded to include internal auditing of the higher education admissions process, student privacy (FERPA), and was part of the internal legal team to successfully merge the company into a non-profit organization.
In 2012, Eric Sloan was hired to start a legal department with DMEautomotive, LLC–an automotive marketing company owned by DME Holdings, LLC and JM Family Enterprises, Inc. As the company’s sole legal representative, Attorney Sloan handled all matters, including advertising compliance, human resources, real estate transactions, SaaS contracting, data security and privacy, managing outside counsel, and providing keynote presentations to internal and external audiences.
DME automotive was successfully acquired in 2015 in a transaction that Mr. Sloan was instrumental in bringing to closing. Attorney Sloan then turned his attention to provide legal services to a multi-office urgent care company in Volusia County, which he is a co-owner. The seemingly never-ending regulation and oversight of medical offices pushed Eric to start a firm in 2019 that is dedicated to assisting healthcare providers of all varieties navigate the complex compliance waters that is the healthcare industry. Mr. Sloan’s practice is also highly active in employment law, civil litigation, and advising businesses from concept to commercial success.
